Description:

From Hawaii Island Festival Ho'olaule'a Website:

Hawai'i Island Festival, 30 Days of Aloha was created to continue a month long Big Island celebration formerly known as Aloha Festivals. The festival seeks to perpetuate the cultural traditions and aloha spirit of the Big Island through various signature and affiliated events, all of which showcase a unique aspect of Hawai'i's rich heritage. Every year the committee selects a theme which reflects an aspect of our culture and traditions. This year the committee has decided to honor our kupuna and the knowledge they have so graciously gifted us. Our 2014 theme is "I ka wa ma mua, I ka wa ma hope" The future is in the past.

Our past is rich with knowledge and tradition. Much of who we've become and who we are is a reflection of those who came before us. As we move into the future, we will reflect upon our past and embrace the teachings and knowledge granted us from our Kupuna. The foundation they have placed for us will continue to support and guide us as it has for so many generations. Celebrate the past and embrace the future.
